The new Pi cryptocurrency is currently a virtual currency invented by three Stanford professors. It was developed for ordinary people and you can mine it for free. This is not a scam and it is currently mined (or earned) by millions of people worldwide.
The current value of Pi is 0 dollars, similar to Bitcoin in 2008. Pi’s value in the near will be backed by the time, attention, goods, and services offered by other members of the network. Pi can be mined by the Pi Network app directly on your smartphone which can be installed from the Google Play Store for Android devices and the Apple App Store for IOS devices. Once there the rate of mining will be determined of your status on the Pi Network. The older members mine at higher rates. But you can quickly climb up the ladder by becoming a Pioneer, Contributor or Ambassador; even build security circles of 3-5 people and use their productivity on the network to significantly increase your mining rates. The only action required by you is restarting the mining process by pressing the lightning button once every 24 hours. Mining on the Pi Network app does not affect your battery’s performance, it does not drain the battery or use network data. It continues to mine even after the app has been closed.
Pi cannot be withdrawn yet as it is not real money at the moment. This will happen in the next phase of the project called Phase 3 when the Pi currency will become a fully decentralized blockchain. In the near future your phone will serve as a digital cryptocurrency wallet from which you will be able to turn it into real money by converting it into any world currency or use it to for purchases of goods and services.
